St. Teresa's community welcomes families whose children are aged seven or older and who have not been baptized, or who were baptized non-Catholic and wish to become Catholic. The formation process that these children enter into is called the “R.C.I.A. adapted for children”. A shortened name for this is the Children’s Catechumenate.
Our parish has a wonderful reputation for supporting and educating adults who wish to become Catholic through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.). In much the same way, the children and their families in the Children’s Catechumenate experience that same support. After an appropriate preparation time and when the children are ready, they are fully initiated into the Catholic Christian faith just like the adults in the R.C.I.A.: they are baptized, confirmed, and receive first Eucharist all during the same liturgy.
The formation for these children takes place within the Religious Education Program with supplemental "Sacrament Nights" for the family to learn more about our faith. These family nights take place during the two years of Sacrament Preparation.
