Father Chuck Durante, Pastor
I was born and raised in Reno, attended local Catholic schools through high school. I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, with a BA in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. I then went on to Santa Clara Law School where I earned by JD and returned to Reno to practice law for about five years before going to the seminary. I completed studies at St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park, California and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Reno in 1994. Since then I have been blessed to serve in the diocese in many ways. My first assignment was as associate pastor at Our Lady of Snows. Next, I came to St. Teresa's as associate pastor while at the same time began work in vocations for the diocese. From there I went to Bishop Manogue Catholic High School as chaplain and to start a Campus Ministry. I remained there for nine years and continued as Vocation Director for the diocese. During that time I also assisted and then became pastor at Our Lady of Wisdom University Catholic Community. In 1998 a few of us in the diocese founded the Life, Peace & Justice Commission, which I am still happy to be chairing. In 2007 I was made pastor at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community. A couple of years later the bishop appointed me as Vicar General of the diocese, a ministry that assists the bishop in the administration of the diocese. So that's my ministry life, which crosses over into my whole life. I do enjoy the outdoors and traveling a great deal. I also enjoy movies, books, swimming, and music, visiting family and friends and spending time in the quiet. I find God in all of these things. I am grateful to be pastor here and ask the Lord's continued blessings upon our good parish!
